Medal, Nawanagar State, Ranjitsinhji, Medal of Merit, Bronze (Third Class)1936, Obv: portrait of King Ranjit Sinhji Vibhaji, the lettering “ORDER OF MERIT, NAWANAGAR STATE” around the field, Rev: a knight and justice standing and angel sitting with a child, beauty sitting with the dog, four scrolls below with the slogans “LOYALTY/ PHILANTHROPY/ CHARITY/ FIDELITY”, 26.27g, 34.70mm, (McClenaghan # 203), the medal is with the ring, with a central grey band and strips, packed in an original mint black box, the box has some handling marks, the medal is with original luster, about extremely fine, Very Rare.

Note: The Ranjitsinhji Medal of Merit was instituted by Maharaja Jam Sahib Sir Ranjitsinhji during the First World War in about 1914-15 as the Nawanagar State Order of Merit as a reward for loyal, philanthropic, charitable, faithful, and long service by state officials and subjects.
